4th Oct 08-Last Min Stuff

The Eve before the big day!

Kiat is suppose to go to the bridal studio to pick up the bouquet,corsages and get XP to do the car deco there.

As for me, I think I was still tidying up my room, lol. Did not sleep well on that day, my mum also could not zzzz :P

PS: Flora and Wells also arrived on the 4th! I could only get to meet them at the dinner itself.

3rd Oct 08-Uni friends gathering

If I remembered correctly, 2nd and 3rd Oct was spent tying up the loose ends, packing the house, Kiat going to the airport to pick up our HKG friends etc. 3rd Oct was also the day we collected our gowns from the studio.

Pauline and Thomas arrived on 2nd night and stayed at our place for 3 nights while K's basketball friends from HKG arrived on the 3rd and he went to meet up with them for supper.

On that Friday, we also had our Uni friends' gathering at SW's house as JX,Sha and YF were back in SIN :) It was babies galore that night-HY my fav boy,YH,Edwyn and Skylar. I always say my this group of friends will be very well liked by the PAP :P

We had steamboat prepared by SW,yums! There were also sushi,otah,fishball and dessert. That's HY helping to serve rice to everyone, isn't he sweet!

Looking forward to our next gathering when Sha is back in Jan 09.

PS: Don't you all think the boy below look like HY? I saw this ad in the newspaper and sms SW if it was really HY and she say nope, brought the ad to her house and showed the rest and all felt the boy and HY really has some resembalance :)

1st Oct 08-To the airport

It's Hari Raya, Wed and also the day our first batch of HKG friends arrived in SIN. Daniel, Vicky and Theresa were the 1st group to reach, in fact, they arrived on Tue night and on Wed morning, they flew off to Penang for a short trip first before coming back again on Friday. We sent them to the airport and had a drink before they flew off at 10plus am...




It was good to see them all again! We knew we would not have time to catch up as much as we would have liked as they were off the Mon/Tue after the wedding. I was happy they joined us for our morning gate crashing/tea ceremony too :)

After sending them off to Penang, we went back to settle more of the wedding stuff like cleaning the house, going through the dreadful excel spreadsheet for the guest lists again...

29th Sep 08-To the ROM

I remembered I took half day off in the morning to go to ROM to make a declaration as well as collect our marriage cert.

过大礼 - 简介
中国传统嫁娶礼仪之一订亲过程中最隆重的仪式，约於婚前15至20天进行。男家择定吉日，便携同礼金和多种礼品送到女家。

包括：

1) 礼金： 价钱丰俭由人。

2) 礼饼： 一担。

3) 海味： 分四式、六式或八式，款式与数量丰俭由人，通常每款分作两包，不论斤数。除髮菜(谐音：发财)不可缺外，可选的物品包括：鲍鱼、蚝豉、元贝、冬菇、海蔘、鱿鱼、虾米、鱼翅及鱼肚等。

4) 三牲： 鸡两对，两雄两雌﹝如父母不全，一对便足够﹞，另猪肉三至五斤， 起双飞﹝即一片相连开二﹞。

5) 鱼： 大鱼或鲮鱼，取其有腥﹝声﹞气。

6) 椰子： 两对﹝若父母不全，用一对便可﹞，意谓有爷有子。

7) 酒： 洋酒或米酒共四支。

8)四京果： 荔枝乾、龙眼乾、合桃乾及连壳花生。

9) 生果： 取其生生猛猛之意。

10) 茶叶、芝麻： 必须用种子来种植茶叶，有祝愿种植不移之子，亦暗喻女子一经缔结婚约，绝无反悔，亦即喻为「油麻茶礼」。

11) 帖盒： 内有莲子、百合、青缕、扁柏、槟榔两对、芝麻、红豆、绿豆、红枣、合桃乾、龙眼乾，另还有红豆绳、利是、聘金、饰金，以及龙凤烛一双及对联一幅。

昨天是我们过大礼的好日子。邵先生早上就把过大礼的东西送到我家来。

他带了聘金，蛋糕，酒，龙凤烛 etc

我们得回礼和给他回他们所要的东西。过后，我妈又准备了非常好吃的午餐，大家一起享用。

Last Friday was our 兄弟姐妹 meeting as well as housewarming party for Kiat's friends.

The party ended at 2am and we were glad everyone had a good time.

Food Tasting

Last Tue, 090908, we went for our food tasting at CC. This was the 2nd time our family met, the meetings have been pleasant so far, well, as per my motto, just be plastic can already :P

As expected, the service was very good.

More importantly, the food was very good except for one particular dish. Hope there is improvement on the actual day.

PS: I wonder why people like to yum seng during weddings????Do you know why???Why why why???

Updates Updates

As usual, I am lamenting that I have not updated my blog as often as I would have like. I have been so busy lately :(

Work is busy-We just ended July with close to 10 previews. Aug is such a crazy period as we have so many programmes starting class-25th Aug 08 to be precise. There are payments to be chase, leads to convert etc etc. But the one GOOD news is I am going to take a short break and will be going off to BKK on 23rd Aug for 3 days with Mr K. Mr K is the one who suggested going for this trip as he wanted to get some stuff for the house (well, for my previous trip with the babes, I was busy shopping for clothes (what else..) and did not buy as much house stuff as he would have liked me to get. It is a much needed break for him as well as the house is finally ready and he deserves a good holiday for all the hard work put in :)

House-finally ready, ASB really took his own sweet time man, always make my blood boil when I think about the time he took to complete. Good thing is, we are happy with his workmanship and creative juices. I just hope he won't give me a huge bill later on, if not I will never patronise his Viet cafe ever again.

As for the wedding preps, I have got the invitation cards ready.

Went to focal ad last month with my brother to check out the invitation card details. After some email correspondence on the print out and all, we have collected all the cards, inserts and envelops last Sat. Time to give out the red bombs.

Next on is the selection of photos. We went to meet up with GL to see the photos which he had taken for us. He developed all the photos which we have taken on the photoshoot day and showed them to us to choose. I think there were around 100 plus photos.


With sheer determination, I only chose in total 45 to make up the album. I did not take up his offer to top up $X amount (which is pretty attractive) to use 64 for the album (the original no of photos we shortlisted out of the 100 plus) as well as get back all the rest of the photos in 4R hardcopy. (Not sure if softcopy is included, did not ask also as I knew I was not going to spent much on the album also)

I so wanted to chopek the rest of the photos and put them into my bag when GL is not looking hahaha. Kiat was so embarrassed.

The last thing is to settle the guest list. And yes, like all our predecessors said, this was the most headache item and now I know why. It is really getting on my nerves!! Parents want X no of tables and then increaase to Y number of tables without warning. Parents allocated X number of tables but wish to invite Y number of guests lol.

Hope to settle this asap which I think is very unlikely as I have quite a number of friends flying and can't confirm their roster till late Aug/early Sep.

Our Wedding Photoshoot

It's already June,half a year gone soon!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday, we went for our wedding photoshoot!!!!!! It was a very eventful day and here are the events that led to it.

15th Feb 08
First appointment at Volans Couture-our bridal studio (recommended by XH as GL has a share in it :P Very good recommendation! Saves me the trouble of going through others stores)

My mum, mar and pz went with me to see the selection of gowns. First time trying on so many wedding gowns.

Took pictures of the gowns secretly as they do not allow photo taking unless you have confirmed your selection :)

First visit-shortlisted some actual day gowns but did not confirm yet as wish to see more ,very greedy.

7th Mar 08
Met up with Jinny, Kiat and my mum and we went to try the evening gowns

Confirmed my actual day white gown with them.

20th Mar 08
Went to VC with Mar and my mum. Confirmed my evening gown with them,Vivien the Taiwanese designer,added an extra touch to the gown I chose :)

I was supposed to try on some gowns for outdoor photoshoot but I did not see anything that catches my eye until I saw this gal who was there and she was going for her photoshoot. She was wearing this dress which I like. I asked the coordinator if I can wear that too and she say no problem, so I chose that without even trying. They say they will alter to my size, which is ok with me.

6th Jun 08-Final fitting before photoshoot

XH went with us for the final fitting,we were glad she did coz she will not be able to go for our wedding as JJ just got a job in Wales and they will be flying over in Aug. Sob Sob Sob. She can't be my jiemei too.

11th Jun 08-Photoshoot
Reached VC at 850am, it was raining in the morning,darn! So nice to sleep. We were first to arrive and took some pictures to entertain ourselves while waiting for them to open shop.



VC is located just opposite 天福宫, which is a great location for photo taking.

GL asked if we wanted to continue with the photoshoot coz we can change to another day if we are worried about the weather. In the end, we decided to stick to it.

Vivian doing the make up for me. I love her make up skills and colour combi. The make up and first hairstyle took close to 1.5 hours, gosh!!

Our first take was the evening gown. We had GL as the photographer (we specifically wanted him as he was the reason why we took up the deal with VC). Leong was on hand to help out with lightings, arranging my gowns-I pity him when he had to fluff my actual day gown as it has a very long train and you must fluff it at least 2 times so that the full shape can be seen. I say he can train his hands muscles. :P He is also a very comical guy.

2nd outfit was the kua. We did not take any indoor for the kua but proceeded to 天福宫 as the temple was the perfect location for the chinese outfit. It was close to lunch time and quite paiseh to take pictures with so many people looking but still it was manageable after first few shots. Talking about kua, my mum found a pair of slippers which was from my grandma and it matches the kua completely.


3rd outfit was for the actual day white gown. Vivian redid the hairstyle for actual day and we break for lunch.

After lunch, it was back to phototaking again. VC manage to get the exact flowers which I requested! We were so impressed with them!!! I just printed out a sample from the internet and told them that they can get anything similar to the ones in the picture but they produce the exact flowers and colour shades. Very satisfied.

The last style was the outdoor white gown. While waiting for Vivian to restyle, Kiat was busy taking his 写真 at this point. We only left VC close to 4pm, I was worried that it was too late but my worries were unfounded.

Our first stop was to the Padang. We also took pictures at the Supreme Court and St Andrew's Cathedral since the car was parked there. Saw 2 other couples taking their photos there too.

Next was to my place for the shophouses shots. I had my own cheongsam for this series. My mum dropped by to see as it was just behind our house and I needed her to bring some stuff for me too actually. The sun came out and I was so happy coz I like 蓝天白云 for the outdoor pictures and without the sun, it is impossible to have. So often then not, we always see people taking wedding photos here and now, it was like 终于到我了. I always knew if I ever get married and take photos, this is one area I must go to have the shots.

We adjourned to Alexandra-Canterbury road. I love this place, it reminded me of Ching Jing, the sheep place in Taiwan. The sun was shining so brightly still at Alexandra. Happy happy happy. then, we went to Labrador park for sunset. The last time I set foot there was during JC-ages ago. The place has changed so much. Saw 3-4 couples there too for phototaking.

Last stop was the Southern Ridges-Henderson Waves. Kiat wanted to come to this place for some night shots. As it is a very new area, GL and Leong have not been there before. Luckily, we managed to find the place. It was very beautiful at night with all the lights on. (I am going to be so dead when he developed all the photos for us to choose). The night shots were more difficult to do as you need to hold on to the poses longer for the flash and all to set in.

An old uncle also stopped to see us take photos and wave to me, so nice of him.




We ended the day around 830pm, very tiring but satisfying. We are very happy with GL and his team. They are so pro and funny, it was so so good working with them.

It was a good decision to continue with the photoshoot as the weather was pretty cooling due to the rain.

From this photoshoot, I can conclude that Mr Kiat cannot 'smile big big' unless Leong or GL come out with some lame jokes hahahaha. For me, not a big problem coz I always have my 'plastic smile' ready haha (like what Daniel says, SQ trained)

I am missing the photoshoot so badly now.
