Babes BKK Getaway Day 2 and 3
Pz and I woke up so early, around 645am local time. We started talking, she was telling me about the ghost who was fiddling with our switches and our conversation woke Mar up too. (Pz joked that mar does not work morning shift coz she did not wake up as early as us)
We went down for breakfast and set off for Chatuchat market.
It was not as crowded as I expected it to be. Managed to buy some household stuff and before we faint from the heat, we left after 2 hours plus at CTC and headed to Jim Thompson for lunch.
Jim Thompson cafe-very nice atmosphere.
We love Thai food!
After filling out tummy, it was off to Platinum Mall again to continue shopping for more clothes!
Went back hotel to shower and then it was out for dinner at Central World before proceeding to Suriwong for some entertainment events.
26th May 08 Monday
Last day in BKK :(
Went to collect Mar's pants before going over to Montien where pz will stay for her extended trip
Went to MBK for lunch-MK Steamboat and then it was off for last min shopping! We simply love the building opposite MBK. So many things to buy.
After stuffing our luggage with last minute purchases, Mar and I were off to the airport.
That summed up our short 3D2N BKK trip. We were there with PJ 5 years ago and 5 years later, we were back together once more. It has been a great but short trip. If only we had more days over there :P
Thanks babes for the company!
Babes BKK getaway-Day 1
Anyway, here's the update of our trip. For this trip, the only thing we did was shop, shop, shop and more shopping. Nothing else. No massage, no movies, only shopping. I seriously think Kiat will die if he came with us.
24th May 08, Sat
Our flight was at 710am and after clearing immigration, the shopping begun at Changi duty free.
When we landed at BKK, Mar went shopping at the duty free before we cleared customs.
Took a cab to our hotel-Citichic Boutique Hotel located at Sukhumvit, Soi 13
The hotel is very new and we were very happy with our choice.
Rooftop gym and pool
After settling down, our first stop was to the tailor as Mar wanted to get some pants done. The hotel provides free tuk tuk service to the entrance of Soi 11/BTS. It is walkable also, around 10 mins.
Doing what we do best while waiting for the tuk tuk.
Sukhumvit is the area to come if you want to tailor some clothes-there are so many tailors here. We went to Needle King, recommended by her ex-colleague.
After that, we went to 四面佛 and was kan by the aunty selling flowers, incense etc, so pissed off with her, think we stupid, trying to rip us. We say she will get retribution one.
We proceeded to MBK for lunch at Oishi and started the officially shopping spree. Next stop was Platinum Mall and Mar went gaga coz she have not been there before and we bought loads of stuff.
Went back to the hotel to shower, examine our loot and it was off for dinner at Sukhumvit Plaza. We decided to have Korean food (as that was the only type of cuisine at this plaza-some Korean mall)
This meal is to commemorate our upcoming birthdays as well. Where is the cake????
We went for a drink at one of the restaurants near our hotel before calling it a day. My whole body ached from all the walking.

Let us not forget...
Cyclone Nargis struck Myanmar on 2 May 2008, leaving at least 31,938 dead and 29,770 people missing

Sichuan 8.0 earthquake which struck on 12th May 08,228pm

It is so heartbreaking to read about these disasters. The tears cannot stop flowing everyday when I read the newspapers articles of the earthquake as well as watching the images on tv. (Almost all the hkg, taiwan and china channels on cable has broadcasts throughout the day)
Esp when I saw the picture above from Zaobao. These children did not survive.
We are so lucky that we do not faced all these mishaps. We must treasure what we have.
