Work...and filming

I have been with my current job for a year plus now. So far so good, managed to hit quite a decent amount of my target for my 1st year with the company. Now that the target has been increased for my 2nd year, more work need to be done. Very stressssss......! :(

**********************************
I was on duty yesterday and TCS or Mediacorp, (I am very out of touched when It comes to local TV shows),came to our place to do some filming for a drama serial-Healing Hands. People like Fann Wong,Terrance Cao,Darren Lim and Yao Wenlong were there together with the crew. It's no easy job, for them and us. When filming start,everyone must be very quiet,cannot have any sound.I can't even photostate some papers man.Dude.

That's Darren Lim on the right.

That's Fann Wong, she's seated next to the person in purple. Haha I know, can't see her face but cannot be so open mah. This is the 2nd time I saw her real life. The 1st was on board a Hkg flight.

The director is the one in the green windbreaker. They are looking at a 'mini tv' when the actors are carrying out their scene. I guess, to see if everything look ok on screen bah hehe, the angle, the lighting....

Was only there for a short while to see them film as I got work to do at level 5 :(

Quite an unique experience at work.

Thailand Day 5 and 6

(Please scroll to Day 1 first to read from the beginning :))

Day 5: 22nd Jul 06

Out of KS and back to BKK..we were pretty happy to leave in fact.

I remembered breakfast was quite gross as there were mosquitoes buzzing over you. Kiat says the numbers are most during early morning and evening,we were up at 7am, were the 1st guests to arrive for breakfast, hence, the only target for them. In the end,I gave up. (Excuse me waiter, there is an mosquito in my egg)

We took the 8am ferry out and reached BKK ard noon.

Back to wonderful Urban House :)

This time, we had the room at level 3. Layout was pretty much the same,except this room had a bigger fridge.

We went to the usual places-MBK, siam area.

Day 6,last day: 23rd Jul 06

Ate at this place before going to Chatuchat Market.

Bought some stuff over there,we were out of the place in 2 hours plus time.

Saw this boy zz when on our way to Anna's cafe.

Anna cafe is pretty well known in Thailand, It was recommended to me by XM and before I knew it, Anna's cafe is just outside Urban House, so shiok!

The food is good and the service is great as well. Great combi again.

They are famous for their cakes as well.

Took the 735pm flight back to SIN.

I like Thailand, the people is nice and the stuff are cheaper than SIN. But I doubt we will be back soon....mustg et out of SE Asia for our next trip!

Back to reality for now. Hope you guys enjoyed my Thailand travel blog.

Thailand Day 4

Day 4: 21st Jul 06

8am: Koh Samed

Lots of stray dogs on the island-this is a cute one.

Chilled out at Silver Sands again while waiting for the island hopping to start at 11am

This picture reminds me of a point which I noticed. As we all know, lots of Ang mohs like to come to Thailand to have flings, fun whatever...as we often see Ang moh with their Thai companion(s). The thing is, the girls they choose are so err CMI! Kiat was saying AMs got different taste, but still!! Must QC a bit rite! The one in the picture is a good example. Ok, I know I am being mean here but I just can't help but question these AM's taste.Super CMI.

Tha's the boat we took for the boat trip. We shared it with the 2 american girls who stayed at lima coco,a group of 2 american and 2 english teens here on summer holiday,they have a thai girl with them,not sure if she is really their friend or errrhmmm...a family of 3 as well as another group of 3 guys-1 english boy and his thai lover boy, we suspected :P plus the LB's younger brother,I think. (family affair lol)

The boat dropped us at this island for snorkelling and lunch.

Nothing much to see,water was quite murky in fact..sad..

Lunch was ok,in fact it wa quite fun chatting with the others, sharing stories of their trip etc. The american girls quitted their job and were on holiday in NZ, SE Asia for 3 months. BKK was their last stop. How I wish I can just quit my job and go travelling.

After lunch, the guy took us for a short hiking trip,none of us really wanted to go as we prefer to go snorkelling elsewhere,well, what to do,when in Thailand, do what the Thais say ok.

We finally got off to another island for some more snokelling,but still,the state of the water is not what I expected. I have been to Phuket in Thailand and the water is fantastic but Koh Samed is not.

The last stop was a visit to a fish farm-kelong. It was only here I got to see lots of fishes-(in capitivity). There were sea turtles and sharks even!

You can buy fishes to feed the bigger fishes,but I did not as I was ahem..quite sea sick by the time I reached the fish farm :P

The island hopping was ok only.

Dinner was at another place on the beach.

Nice food and good service :)

Thailand Day 3

Day 3: 20th Jul 06

On Day 3, we made our way to the island of Koh Samed.
Took the BTS to Ekamai Bus terminal to take the 3 hour plus bus ride to the town of Ban Phe. I realised in thailand, everything gotta be done at thai timing-as adv by Kiat.

After a loong ride, we finally reached the town of Ban Phe.

The ferry terminal-Pier your welcome :P

Samed Villa-The lobby cum restaurant. Do not be deceived by the pictures from here onwards! It may look good and clean but it is not. Like I mentioned in my prev post, its mosquitoes land. Thank god I brought my insect repellent spray. Koh Samed is a national park,hence the place is kinda 'untouched',maybe thats why this explained the condition of the place.

Our room from the outside

Part of the room-although we paid for the beachfront, but I felt there wasn't any view to shout about.

We went to check out the waters and were disappointed! :( Not clear!! Unlike Tioman where the water is very clear and can see fishes swimming up to shore. My friend Wq stayed at the same place and she liked it very much,not sure if she went before or after the tsunami??I was told by Just, she stayed at Lima Coco at Ao Phrao that the reason is due to the tsunami. It affected the water around the place I stayed-Ao Phai. (We stayed at opp side of the island) Her area was not affected at all...the beach at lima coco was clear and she can see starfishes on the beach,damn!!! I should have booked lima coco. I remembered the 2 american girls we met later on who stayed at lima coco, they say the beach is nice also.

(Something is wrong with my blooger upload pics-kinda limit the pics I put as centre piece...??)

The beach we had at Ao Phai-eww

We decided to rent a motorbike and explore the southern beaches as we heard the southern beaches were clearer.

Kiat was pretty good with the auto bike-given the conditions of the track which was so bumpy and full of rocks,granite,stones etc.

We rode to Ao Wong Deau-the beach was not spectuclar either. Had a bite at one of the eateries there. (The girl took so longggg to come out with the food..really relax man they all.)

Quite disapoointed but luckily the biking was fun :) Was hoping the boat trip the next day would be good. We had dinner at the beach front near our resort-It's called Silver Sand or Seabreeze,I can't rem.

Our Thailand Trip (Day 1 and Day 2)

Finally, I can sit down and update my blog on my BKK/KS trip. It has really been a very busy week at work,what's more, I had to work today as it was my duty week. Will update on today's event in a later blog :).

***************************************
Thailand 18th Jul-23rd Jul

Day 1: 18th Jul 06
We took the Jetstar 535pm flight to BKK.I took half day off on Tue but I only left the office at 230pm,went home to take my stuff and went to Kiat's place. He was still rushing his work and we only managed to leave his place ard 4.Reached the airport at 430pm and checked in.

By the time we landed and made our way to Urban House, it was already 845pm local time.We were greeted by Chompoo the owner and her gal friend. Urban House is located at Salendaeng,Silom.

Our suite was spacious and clean!Very comfortable! Best part, it's not expensive,only 1200 baht. (less than $50 ) Check out the room:

We immediately made our way for makan as both of us were famished (SIN time it's 10pm,no dinner still)-at Yaowarak (Chinatown). Our fav store:

Dessert-Yes,bird nest for me and ching teng for kiat. The thais love their dessert very sweet..lotsa syrup...

This little boy was going around asking people to buy his flowers.

After dinner, we made our way back.We stopped by Salendang Road where there are roadside stalls on both sides of the road,selling tshirts,shoes,sunglasses,you name it they have it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Day 2: 19th Jul Wed
More pictures of Urban H. They provide guests with simple breakfast-toast,fruits,drinks.
The lobby:
On the way up,we stayed at the 2nd floor.
Our host Chompoo was a really nice gal!! She is always around to help us with directions, helping us make reservations for massage or dinner when needed. Great host!
To give you more on Urban House,it is a bed and breakfast joint,no fuss.It is located at Saladaeng,inside a little street. Actually it is converted from a terrace house,if I am not wrong as I saw other houses which have families staying in. Some have been converted to spa,laundry etc..For those who have been to Gene's house, its exactly like his place-turn in to a little street and the place is just at the end of the street.
We highly recommend this place although at night, it could be quite dangerous for girls to walk alone as the streets around the area are very dark due to no street lamps.
For more information, do check out their website:http://www.urbanh.com/
We headed to Platinum Mall, near WTC/Pratunam area for some shopping.
Thailand is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the acension to the throne of their King.There ae pictures of the King everywhere.
Sharks fin at food court-only in Thailand I think
Next stop was Siam Paragon-the one with the aquarium
After an afternoon of shopping, (with a very bored Kiat :P) we were off to Healthland Spa,the spa that was highly recommended by my friends and colleagues. And true to their words,it was very good! We did the aeromatheraphy massage and it was so good. Sha, you must try it. I bet you and yf will love that place.
http://www.healthlandspa.com/
It was off to Sirocco for dinner at the Dome,State Tower,just 10mins away by cab from Urban H. Sirocco is similar to Equinox,SIN/Aqua,HKG. It is located at the 63rd storey of the State Tower and this place was recommended by Kiat's boss who can be considered half a thai PR himself.
LWY,you gota try this if you go BKK again.
You gotta climb down a flight of stairs before you reach the reception area.
The view was good from the 63rd level-seeing BKK at another angle was indeed refreshing. The place was an outdoor concept and yes, it is the chi-chi kinda place. Place that we would probably only go once just for the experience and atmosphere.
I d/l this pic from the Dome's website coz I don't have a clear pic which we took of the place at night. The restaurant is on the left,the bar is on the right.
After a very satisfying dinner,we headed to the bar for drinks.
Thats the dome structure in the background,next to it is the band playing jazz..nice!!
